The 10 Types of Golfers You'll Meet on Every Course

From the guy who blames his clubs to the one who "just started playing" — every golfer knows these characters. Which one are you?

Every golf course is its own little ecosystem. No matter where you tee off, the same cast of characters shows up every single time. If you've played more than three rounds in your life, you've met all of these people — and if you haven't, you might be one of them.

1. The Equipment Blamer Shoots a 108 but it's definitely the driver's fault. Has spent more on clubs than a used car. Currently researching a new putter.

2. The Sandbagger Claims a 22 handicap. Somehow birdies four holes. Nobody is fooled. Nobody says anything.

3. The Rules Lawyer Knows every obscure ruling in the USGA handbook. Invokes them selectively. Mysteriously never calls penalties on himself.

4. The Slow Player Takes three practice swings, two waggles, steps away, re-reads the green, and then — after all that — chunks it 40 yards. Every. Single. Hole.

5. The Over-Sharer You asked how his round was going. He told you about his divorce, his knee surgery, and his opinion on the greens fee increase. You're on hole 3.

6. The "I Just Started Playing" Guy Said this six years ago. Still says it. Shot an 84 last week.

7. The Cart Path Philosopher Has a quote for every bad shot. "That's golf." "You can't win 'em all." "It's a game of misses." You want to throw his 7-iron into the pond.

8. The Mulligan Collector Takes one off the first tee "just to warm up." Takes another on 9 "because the sun was in my eyes." Finishes with a 79 that required 11 shots to achieve.

9. The Gear Head Rangefinder, GPS watch, launch monitor app, wind meter. Shoots a 95. The data is very precise.

10. The Bogey Golfer Who Owns It Doesn't pretend. Doesn't make excuses. Shows up, makes bogeys, has a beer at the 19th hole, and wears it like a badge of honor. Our kind of golfer. 🤙

At Bogeys & Badges, we make shirts for the golfer who keeps it real. Check out our golf polo collection — because if you're going to make bogeys, you might as well look good doing it.
